Low-floor buses

Travel in comfort with the ZVV low-floor bus fleet

The transport companies within ZVV are operating almost exclusively using low-floor buses. There are currently around 700 vehicles of which 60 are modern low-floor trolleybuses. Nevertheless, a few high-floor routes remain. You will find a list Öffnet PDF in einem neuen Fensterhere (PDF, 160KB) of those ZVV bus routes which do not have a complete integrated low-floor service.

All customers can benefit from more comfortable access, but particularly passengers with prams or luggage. Wheelchair users and Rollator walkers can also use these routes. All low-floor buses are equipped either with a folding ramp or a mobile ramp next to the second set of doors from the front. Mobility impaired people in wheelchairs can get on and off with the help of the driver. It is not necessary to give notification in advance.

The trolleybus routes in the city of Zurich are currently still operating using different types of vehicles. On route 31 (Hegibachplatz–Schlieren) only low-floor double-articulated trolleybuses are in use. Due to operational constraints, on the other trolleybus routes the low-floor vehicles are running at different times. In the city of Winterthur, low-floor trolleybuses are utilised as a general rule. In exceptional cases, high-floor vehicles may be put into service on routes no. 1, 2 and 3 during peak service hours.

How to find information on the deployment of low-floor buses

ZVV-Contact (0848 988 988) will be pleased to give you information on departure times for low-floor buses on routes with mixed vehicle types. Just give our member of staff your name, contact number (mobile phone if possible), journey requirement with route number, departure stop and direction of travel, as well as the date and optimum departure time according to the published timetable.

Please note that it is only possible to give out information for journeys from Monday to Friday. For operational reasons we are unable to make vehicles available upon request. Where the required service does not have low-floor vehicles, ZVV-Contact will give you the departure time of the earlier low-floor vehicle in operation, so that you can reach your destination on time.

ZVV-Contact usually only calls back with departure time details on the morning of the day of travel, even for enquiries from the previous day, as changes in vehicle availability may occur during the night.

We thank you for your understanding that we are not yet able to operate low-floor buses on all bus routes, or that various bus routes can only offer a temporary solution. Please send your suggestions and positive and negative comments to ZVV-Contact at contact@zvv.ch.

Please note: In some cases, where a vehicle breaks down or services are disrupted, high-floor reserve vehicles may be used for operational reasons to replace the low-floor bus affected, as well as on individual low-floor bus journeys notified to you in advance. Information given is therefore not guaranteed. We reserve the right to make changes to services in the course of the 2012 timetable year.
