Penalty fares

You got into an inspection? Here you will find information on the fee regulations in the ZVV.

Penalty fare collection is regulated in a uniform way. The size of the penalty fare is determined based on the number of times the person has been caught without the appropriate ticket in the last two years. A distinction is made between journeys on a partially valid ticket and those without a valid ticket.

Penalty fares for journeys without a valid ticket

Penalty fare for the 2nd time CHF 140.–
Penalty fare for the 3rd time (incl. CHF 50.– for application to initiate criminal proceedings) CHF 220.–
In each case, the amount includes a flat-rate fare of CHF 10.–
