Reopening of the ZVV night network postponed

For the time being the government council of the canton Zurich wants to forego the reopening of the ZVV night network. This is due to the latest developments in corona case numbers. The resumption of night operations was originally planned for 17 July.

The government council of the Canton of Zurich has decided not to resume operation of the ZVV night network for the time being for epidemiological reasons. According to the cantonal government, a resumption of night-time operations at this time would jeopardise the effectiveness of various measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus. For example, it would encourage the mobility of partygoers between cities and cantons, thus increasing the risk of the virus spreading.

Night trains in the direction of eastern Switzerland and night buses in the direction of Aargau

Those night S-Bahn trains and night buses in the direction of eastern Switzerland where the majority of the stops lie outside the canton of Zurich will be operating. The Thurbo night trains between Winterthur–Romanshorn and Winterthur–St. Gallen will therefore run according to schedule.

On the other hand, the night lines Winterthur–Schaffhausen–Stein am Rhein and Winterthur–Bülach–Schaffhausen which mainly run and stop on Zurich cantonal territory will not be in operation.

The N33 night bus line operates mainly in the canton of Aargau and operates according to the timetable.
