Security organisation

Transport police, security and preventive service: To make you feel safe, different units patrol the ZVV area. An overview of the security organisation and the different areas of responsibility.

The ZVV security organisation comprises the transport police, a security/preventive service and the inspection service, all of which are on duty around the clock.

The various units are organised and coordinated under the command of the SBB transport police, which ensures interventions are appropriate to the situation.

All staff of the new security organisation wear light yellow waistcoats.

Transport police

More than 40 transport police officers are stationed in the ZVV network for the safety of passengers. Transport police officers are specially trained for deployment on public transport. They work closely with other police officers to penalise violations.

The presence of the transport police enables us to identify and resolve problems early. The Cantonal Police and transport police are working together continuously to analyse the security situation and enact necessary measures.

The Security Service

The Security Service provides support to the transport police. More than 200 employees, mostly working in pairs, patrol vehicles as well as rail and bus stations. Their job is to enforce security by maintaining a presence and applying specific skills.

Needless to say, they are on hand to offer passengers advice and guidance as required.

The nighttime network team

All S-Bahn trains in the nighttime network are staffed by the Security Service, which patrols trains and checks stations while at stops. The Security Service is also active on night bus routes.

Vehicle patrols are regularly supported by other teams from the transport police, Security Service and the inspection service. Of course the security organisation also works closely with other police organisations in the nighttime network.

Drivers

Tram and bus drivers can provide brief information and assist in emergency situations. Drivers are aware of how to request expert assistance in emergencies and direct passengers with questions to the right help desk.

If you feel unsafe, choose a seat near to the driver.
