Self-service bicycle transport

Travelling with a bike? Bicycles can be transported on most ZVV network lines, provided there is sufficient space on the vehicles, they are clean, and you have a vlid ticket. Please note, however, that there is no obligation to accommodate bicycles. You are responsible for loading, unloading, and transferring your bike yourself.

Special regulations for children:

  • Children under 16 years: Free bicycle transport if accompanied by a person aged 16 or older.
  • Children with a GA Travelcard for Children or GA Travelcard Familia for Children: Free bicycle transport, even without accompaniment.
  • Children’s bicycles for children under 6 years: Considered as hand luggage and transported free of charge.

Bicycle transport outside the ZVV area:

For bicycle transport beyond the ZVV network, you need a bicycle ticket for the relevant route. The transport is valid for the route or zones specified on the ticket.

Travelling with a bicycle

Please note: Even on services where bicycle transport is generally permitted, bicycles are only transported if there is sufficient space available (usually outside peak travel times). Additionally, ensure that your bicycle is clean, as dirty bicycles may be excluded from transport.

  • S-Bahn: Special bicycle parking spaces are available in the double-deck trains and Regio-Dosto trains of the SBB, as well as in the articulated railcars of Thurbo AG and the FLIRT trains of SOB. Look for the bicycle symbol on the door.
  • Tram: Use the rear section of the tram to find sufficient space for your bicycle.
  • Bus: Board through the second front door, as this area usually provides enough space for your bicycle.

On these services, bicycle transport is not permitted from Monday to Friday between 6–8 a.m. and 4–7 p.m.
